hey mate

A zwitterion ; from German Zwitter , meaning is a molecule that contains both a positively-charged functional group and a negatively-charged functional group. The overall electrical charge on the molecule is zero. When a hydrogen ion, H+, is transferred from an acidic group to a basic group in the same molecule the reaction is reversible. In this case, which applies to amino acids, a solution will contain both the zwitterion and its isomer, in chemical equilibrium with each other. Otherwise a second kind of zwitterion is possible where the centre of positive charge is located on a quaternary nitrogen atom.
