What is meantby saying that the friction is a self - adjusting force ?

friction depends on Applied force and the mass of body if we increase the applied force fiction will also increase and if we decrease the applied force frictional decrease same as in mass if we increase the mass of a body the friction will increase and if we decrease it the fictional decrease hence that's why we can say that the friction is self adjusting force
