like there is a proportion - a:b::c:d so the numbers b&c are means and a&d are extremes and there is a formula that if the product of means= product of extremes then the 4 numbers are in proportion....... like b×c=a×d........hope it helps....if is correct Mark as brainliest.....

Question-

What is meant by the product of means = product of extremes?

Answer-

If you are asking the reason, then you should first understand some terms that I am going to use here to explain the answer.

Let us take an example ratio and proportion - 10:5::2:1

As you can see clearly, the numbers are underlined or italicised. The numbers which are underlined, that is 10 and 1, are called extremes. The numbers which are italicised, that is 5 and 2, are called means.

In Ratio and proportion, there is one important relationship between the extremes and means. The product of extremes = The product of means.
