It is of two types :-

Anabolic reactions :- these are the reaction which collects smaller molecules to synthesis a larger molecule

eg:- photosynthesis

Catabolic reactions:- these are the reactions which breaks downs the complex substances into simpler substances to release energy.

eg:- respiration
