Metagenesis is used in describing life cycle of plants.

Multicellular sporophyte is diploid with 2N paired chromosomes.

Multicellular gametophyte is alternate with multicellular gametophyte and helped with N unpaired chromosomes.

Mature sporophyte mainly produces the spores by the meiosis which is process that results in the reduction of chromosomes by half.

Answer:

Metagenesis It is the phenomenon of alternation of generation, i,e ., one diploid generation alternates with the other haploid generation e.g, in Obelia two forms , i.e ., polyp and medusae are present. Polyp form asexually gives rise to medusae and medusae in turn sexually gives rise to polyps.
