Metals are elements which give cations (positive ions) naturally, (except for H). Some examples are Iron(Fe,) Aluminum(Al), Copper(Cu), Cobalt(Co), Zinc(Zn)… Non-metals are elements which give anions (negative ions) naturally. Some examples are Oxygen(O), Nitrogen(N), Iodine(I), Chlorine(Cl), Flourine(F)… Whereas non-metals may be solid, liquid and gaseous at room temperature. Metals are good conductors of heat and electricity but non-metals are poor conductors of heat and electricity. Metals are ductile in nature i.e. it can be drawn into thin wires. But non-metals are not ductile....
