• Metamorphosis is a period in certain animals in which the they have changes in their body shape.

• Metamorphosis can be seen in frogs and butterflies too!

Frogs:-

• Tadpole (early stage of frog) when hatches from the egg, can be seen that they have gills for their respiration.
• They also had a tail at that time.
• They, at that time, are herbivore.
• But, when the period comes, radical changes can be seen!
• They absorb their tail, intestine gets shorter and they adopt a carnivorous diet.
• They also start pleunamory breathing (/breathing by lungs.

Note:- They can't grow in the water having deficiency of Iodine.

Butterflies:-

• Pupa grows by eating mulberry leaves and then when the time comes, they cover themselves of a veil.
• Then, metamorphosis starts.
• Veil (/cocoon) is made up of a protein.
• Then, they come out from the cocoon having a pair of wings.
