Answer:
metopic suture is a dense connective tissue extending from the nasion to the bregma . the fusion of meropic suture starts at the fontanelle and terminates at the nation . fusion of suture between the frontal bones occur at the age from 1 to 3
Answer:
Sutures are unossified , non -joint part of cranial bones. They are formed due to concentric ossification of the fontanelles of the cranial bones.
Examples of sutures are:
1. Coronal suture.
2. Sagittal suture.
Now, metopic suture is a type of suture present only in occasional cases.
When the frontal bones is undergoing formation, the anterior fontanelles might not perform total ossification.
This leads to formation of metopic suture.
Extent : It extends from the nasion (point of intersection between fronto-nasal suture and inter -nasal suture) to the bregma (intersection between coronal and sagittal suture)
