1) The act or method of extracting ores or coals from beneath the surface - It involves drilling inside the earth to extract valuable minerals.
2) Laying explosive mines in places to destroy enemies, their equipments and their outposts and such other things.
Adjective:-
When 'mining' is used as an adjective it is used as a reference to those or those things who are related to mining such as mining engineer, mining machinery, etc.
