Mirage is an optical illusion caused by refraction in which we see distant object nearby us beacuse of bending of light from layer to layer...
This only can seen in summer because in summer the air nearby earth becomes denser and this is imp. for mirage formation..
if u remember for image formation in same medium light ray refract greater than critical angle and light must refract from denser to rare medium....
So , mirage is also a application of t.i.r
If u understood t.i.r then u easily understand mirage also..
