The boundary between earth’s crust and the mantle is called The Mohorovicic Discontinuity. This boundary is at an approximate depth of 10 to 12 kilometres under the ocean floor, about 40 to 50 kilometres under the continents.

At this depth, seismic waves change their velocity and accelerate.

For sake of simplicity, the Mohorovicic Discontinuity is referred to as ‘Moho’ in geological circles.
