If the mass of an object is m and it has a velocity v, then themomentum of the object is defined to be its mass multiplied by its velocity. Momentum has both magnitude and direction and thus is a vector quantity. Theunits of momentum are kg m s−1 or newton seconds, N s.

Momentum is a physical quantity of motion with SI unit kg metre per second.

Momentum is basically a quantity that is vector in nature and is related to the motion of any object. It is a quantity that has  direction and magnitude and is the resultant of the product of a certain mass moving with a certain velocity.

It is observed that if there is a change in momentum of a certain body then it is definitely due to some outer force that is acting on the body.

Although it depends on a certain frame of reference but if this reference is taken in terms of inertia it will always be seen that momentum like energy is always conserved.

This means that if there is a certain body moving with a certain momentum then there won't be any Momentum generated or reduced until and unless there is an external force applied or a body in touch that can share the momentum thereby changing the magnitude of momentum.

The unit of momentum is kg meter per second.
