Momentum

the the momentum of a body is defined as a product of its mass and velocity.

p = m \times v

  • every moving body poses momentum.
  • momentum is an vector quantity.
  • if a body is at rest its velocity is zero and hence its momentum is also zero.
  • SI unit of momentum is kilogram metre per second.
