Monosaccharides can be defined as simple sugar with formula C₆H₁₂O₆. These are sugar molecular part of our daily diet which are not needed to be digested and simply absorbed by our blood and reach to the cells. Such simple sugar can be of 3 types such as,

(i) Glucose: Popularly known as grape sugar, is the most common simplest sugar found in organisms.

(ii) Fructose: It is generally found in plants and in plant parts.

(iii) Galactose: It is commonly preserved in milk and in dairy products.
