To grow more than one crop on a piece of land during the year is known as multiple cropping. It is the most common way of increasing production on a given piece of land. All farmers in Palampur grow atleast two main crops; many are growing potato as the third crop.
The following are some reasons how multiple cropping is better than the modern farming methods:
More than one crop on a field which is not possible in modern farming method where mostly one crop is grown in the field. If one crop damaged then it has the chances that the another crop will not damaged. However in modern farming method if the crops get spoiled due to some natural calamity there is no other crop that can earn revenue for the farmers.Multiple crop

Hi there,
In agriculture, multiple cropping is the process in which farmers grow more than one crop of different variety on the same land.
The characteristics are:-
1) Different type of plants with different nutritional requirements could be grown on the same land.
2) It reduces soil erosion since there are two types of plants whose harvesting seasons are different.
3) Plants could be cultivated at different time.
4) Proper nutritional requirements will be fulfilled since they both will have same nutritional requirements..
Hope this helped..
Thankyou..
