was made the sultan in 1246 CE by the
nobles. Nasiruddin was a weak ruler
and dependent on the nobles. During
his twenty-year reign, the real power
was concentrated in the hands of the
Chahalgani and its leader Ghiyasuddin
Balban. After Nasiruddin's death in
1266 CE, Balban became sultan and ruled
for the next two decades.
