Natural selection does not select an organism, but selects a mutation in its genes which prove to be useful for the species. A mutation is any RANDOM change in the DNA or genes of a species. Sometimes, a change happens that is good or advantageous for this species over other species. Nature automatically selects this genes to be passed over to the next generation, so that the next generation can get this advantage, and the entire species can. Examples are bats. The wings which they got were due to a change in the genes, and it was advantageous for them. Therefore, through natural selection, the genes was passed, and all bats now have wings.
