Necridia are dead cells.
These dead cells interrupt the filament and cause breaks in them.
This results in false branching and formation of hormogonia.

Necridia are the dead cells that are found in the Oscillotoria genus of the filamentous cyanobacterium which is called so due to the oscillations in its movement.
