Nervous tissue is highly specialized tissue for receiving stimuli and the transmission or conduction of these stimuli as electrochemical nerve impulses. It controls and integrate the activities of various parts of the body. Thus, nervous tissue has two characteristics.
1) conduction
2)integration
It occurs in brain, spinal cord and nerves.

FUNCTIONS :--
1.) Nerve in our body are like cables made up of many nerve fibres.
2.) It conduct messages from one part of the body to the other. They receive stimuli from the environment and send messages to brain and spinal cord.

Nervous tissue is made up of different types of nerve cells, all of which have an axon, the long stem-like part of the cell that sends action potential signals to the next cell. Functions of the nervous system are sensory input, integration, control of muscles and glands, homeostasis, and mental activity.
