Neural Tissue:

  • Tissue which exerts the 'greatest control over the 'body's responsiveness' to changing conditions is neural tissues.
  • The 'unit of neural system' are neurons which are excitable cells. Neural tissue performs specialised functions. It consists of ‘neurons’ and ‘neuroglia’. They have the ability to generate nerve impulses.
  • While neuron is the ‘basic unit’ of neutral system, neuroglia is supporting cells found in the nervous system which are non-neuronal cells. They provide ‘electrical insulation.’
