Neuron and it's function :

Definition : The cells of nervous tissue are highly specialized and the cells of this tissue are called nerve cells or neurons. A neuron consists of a cell body which comprises of nucleus and cytoplasm, from which long thin hair-like parts arise.Neurons is also called as neurones or nerve cells .The fundamental units of the brain and nervous system.

Function :

The cells responsible for receiving sensory input from the external world, for sending motor commands to our muscles, and for transforming and relaying the electrical signals at every step in between.

Structure:

The primary components of the neuron are the cell body, a long slender projection that conducts electrical impulses away from the cell body, the tree-like structures that receive messages from other neurons, and synapses (specialized junctions between neurons).
