the failure of one or more pairs of homologous chromosomes or sister chromatids to separate normally during nuclear division, usually resulting in an abnormal distribution of chromosomes in the daughter nuclei.

Absolutelyzero:  Failure of segregation of chromatids during cell division cycle results in the gain or loss of a chromosome (s), called aneuploidy. Aneuploidy arises due to non-disjunction of homologous chromosome.

Nondisjunction is a kind of abnormal function which occur during the process of cell division. Usually during cell division, chromosomes line up in an order and then and then separate from each other. But when these chromosomes are not able to separate properly , disjunction occurs. Due to this the number of chromosomes starts varying in parent cell and daughter cell. This cause improper functioning of cell in absence of right amount of chromosomes because they contains DNA which inherits the traits.
