Nuclear fusion - The process in which two nuclei of light element combine to form a heavy nucleus is called nuclear fusion.

Nuclear fission - The process in which the heavy nucleus of a radio - active atom such as uranium, thoriun, plutonium split up into smaller nuclei when bombarded with no energy nuetron is called nuclear fission.
