NUTRIENTS - Nutrients are the compounds in food that provide us with energy that facilitates repair and growth and helps to carry out different life processes.
There are mainly 2 kinds on nutrients -
1. MACRONUTRIENTS - nutrients that the body needs in a large amount.
2. MICRONUTRIENTS - nutrients that the body needs in a lesser amount.
Types of macronutrients -
1. ENERGY GIVING FOOD (CARBOHYDRATE) - energy giving food or simply carbohydrate, provides us with starch witch gives us energy.
2. BODY BUILDING FOOD (PROTIENS) - body building food or simply proteins make our body stronger.
3. FATS - fats provide us with more starch that often makes flesh our some of our body parts like our stomach.
Types of micronutrients -
1. PROTECTIVE FOOD (VITAMINS AND MINERALS) - Vitamins and minerals are called protective food because they protect us from diseases and viruses.
2. ROUGHAGE - roughage is important for us so that the food that is undigested is removed from the body.
3. WATER - water is important to all living being. We should at least drink 8 glasses of water each day i.e. 2 litres of water each day.
