=>Octet rule means presence of 8 electrons in the outer most shell.
Example:-Neon
the electronic configuration of the Neon is 1s2,2s2,2p6
outer most electrons are 2s2,3p6=8.
=>Octect rule is a chemical rule of thumb that reflect observation that atoms of main group elements tend to combine in such a way that each atom has 8 electrons in its valence shell, giving it the same electronic configuration as a noble gas.
