Federal Judiciary is one of the three branches of the federal government that exist in United States. It consist of courts at different levels solving various disputes. The Supreme Court stands at the apex of these courts. It is generally a court of apellate jurisdiction where the Supreme Court choose the cases to hear by granting writs of Certiorari(asking the subordinate courts to present the records of the case in the Supreme Court) which means there is no basic right to directly appeal to the Supreme Court. So the Supreme Court basically functions as a court of appeal in a Federal Jurisdiction though certain cases like disputes between state governments or between the federal government and the state comes under the original jurisdiction of the Supreme Court.
