Osmosis is the spontaneous net movement of solvent molecules through a selectively permeable membrane into a region of higher solute concentration, in the direction that tends to equalize the solute concentration on the two sides.

Simple Definition :- osmosis is the movement of water or other solvent through a plasma membrane from a region of low solute concentration to a region of high solute concentration.
