Phanerograms: - These are the plants which bear flowers and seeds. It include two main groups: - Gymnosperms and Angiosperms.
Cotyledon is a modified leaf of the embryo in seed-bearing plants, that emerges from a germinating seed. Main purpose of cotyledon is storage or absorption of food reserves.

hello!

  • the other name of flowering plants is angiosperms i.e., most evolved group of plants in the kingdom plantae
  • angiosperms are further classified into two types based on the presence of cotyledons i.e., seed leaves.
  1. monocotyledonae - they have a single cotyledon and has fibrous root system with parallel venation in their leaves
  2. dicotyledonae - they have two cotyledons and has tap root system with reticulate venation in their leaves.
