it is a reaction in which Hydrogen is displaced and oxygen is added.

it is a reaction in which a reactant lose electron.

point to remember → whenever there is an oxidation reaction then there is a reduction too.

Oxidation reaction :

In terms of electrons, it is the reaction in which any reactant loses electron.
In terms of oxygen, the gain of oxygen is called oxidation.
