Parachor is an empirical constant for a liquid relating surface tension to the molecular volume

Explanation:

  • Parachor is a quantity (related to surface tension) defined according to the formula:

            P = \gamma ^\frac{1}{4}\frac{M}{d}

       where γ is the surface tension, M is the molar mass, and d is the            density.

  • It is both an additive and constitutive property.
  • Since Parachor is inversely related to density , it maybe correlated with viscosity as :
  • For liquids , as density increases , viscosity increases . However , Parachor is a constant for a given liquid . Therefore , for different liquids , if the viscosity is increasing , Parachor will decrease according to the relation mentioned above .
