In botany and horticulture, parthenocarpy (literally meaning virginfruit) is the natural or artificially induced production of fruit without fertilization of ovules. The fruit is therefore seedless. Stenospermocarpy may also produce apparently seedlessfruit, but the seeds are actually aborted while still small.
