\huge\mathtt\red{Parturition}

\longrightarrow The average duration of human pregnancy is about 9 months which is called the gestation period.

\longrightarrow The act of expelling the full term foetus from the mother's uterus at the end of gestation period byvigorous contraction of uterus is called parturition.

\longrightarrow It is induced by a complex neuroendocrine mechanism.

\longrightarrow Parturition signals originate from the fully developed foetus and the placenta which induce mild uterine contractions called foetal ejection reflex.

\longrightarrow This triggers the release of oxytocin from the maternal pituitary.

\longrightarrow Oxytocin induces stronger uterine muscle contractions which in turn stimulate further secretion of oxytocins. Stimulatory reflex between contraction and oxytocin secretion results in stronger and stronger contradiction which leads to expulsion of baby out of uterus through birth canal.
