In passive voice, the main noun or the object becomes the clause.In easy way, in a passive voice, we represent only the action that takes place. We are not interested in knowing the action has been performed by whom.

For example --

The police caught the thief.

Converting the sentence in passive voice -->

The thief was caught.

Here we aren't interested by whom the thief was caught.We just want to know whether that action has been performed or not.

Now let's move on to Reported speech.

When we want to convey what the other person has said, then we do it indirectly i.e we don't use his/her exact words.

For example -->

Sarah said, " I'm not hungry".

The above sentence is in direct speech. This means the sentence has been spoken by the other person directly.

Sarah said that she wasn't hungry.

This sentence is in indirect speech. This means this sentence of Sarah has been reported by us to someone else.

All indirect speeches have 'that' just after the reporting verb. And the tenses in direct speech changes to its past tenses.

Hope This Helps You!
