Peristalsis is the muscular movements(simultaneous contraction and relaxation) present in alimentary canal.

Peristalsis helps in propelling the bolus in oesophagus or chyme in the stomach.

peristalsis is the wave of construction caused by the circular muscles of the gut pushing the food allong peristalsis occurs through all regions of the gut.

once the food reaches the oesophagus it is conducted behind by a special movement called peristalsis
