What is peristalsis? How does it help in digestion.

Peristalisis is the rhythmic contraction and relaxation of the organs of the alimentary canal. It does not exactly help in the process of digestion other than help the food move easily in the alimentary canal

Peristalsis is the slowest movement of food towards stomach .it doesn't play any important role in digestion it just a process in which food move from thorax to stomach
