Pharynx is a funnel shaped vertical tube present between mouth and wind pipe. It is about 12-14 cm long. It serves as a passage for food from buccal cavity to oesophagus and it also provides a passage into trachea(wind pipe) through a slit like aperture called glottis. It bears a leaf like cartilaginous flap called epiglottis.
