Answer:

Photosynthesis is a process by which green plants having chlorophyll combine water and carbon dioxide in the presence of sunlight to form oxygen and water.

Plants take in carbon dioxide through small openings on the leaf called stomata (singular: stoma). Guard cells present around the stoma regulate their opening and closing. When the guard cells are filled with water they get swollen allowing the entry of carbon dioxide and release of oxygen and when they are not having water they, become limp and close. Water is absorbed from the soil by the roots and transported to leaves through tube like structures called vessels. Cells called chloroplasts contain chlorophyll and these are the site for photosynthetic reaction. Water and carbon dioxide react when the energy from sunlight reaches them. In the process glucose and oxygen are formed.
