The orientation of a plant or other organism in response to light us called phototropism, either towards the source of light ( positive phototropism ) or away from it ( negative phototropism ).
The growth of the parts of plants in response to the force of gravity is called geotropism. The upward growth of plant shoots is an instance of negative geotropism ; the downward growth of roots is positive geotropism.
Activity
Phototropism: place a sunflower in an open field in any direction, it will automatically turn towards sunlight. Its stem grows in upward direction showing positive phototropism.
Geotropism: roots of plants grow downward (towards gravity) showing positive geotropism
