What is Pietra-dura. What was it used?Give some examples.

Pietra - dura is the term used for inlay technique of using cut and fitted, highly polished coloured stones for creating beautiful images. It is a very good decorative arts. It is also seen in the walls of "Taj Mahal".

  • Pietra-dura is a term for using cut and fitted,highly polished colored stone to create images . the stonework is glued stone-by-stone to a base after being 'sliced and cut in different shape section' and then assembled together so precisely that the contact between each section was practically invisible.there were many different colored stone particularly marble,were used and even some precious stone.
