What is placenta? How is the placenta beneficial to the mother and the foetus?

Placenta it is organ developed and attached to the uterus while pregnancy to provide the nutrients to the baby through wall of the uterus. It then forms the umbilical cord.

The placenta is a special tissue which is highly vascularised which provides nutrition to the embryo from the mother's blood. It also collects waste from the grown fetus back to the mother's blood.
