Some of the features of Plank's Quantum theory are :

  • The radiated energy which is released or is absorbed by a body which is not continuously but discontinuosly in the form of small packets which is called as quantum.

  • Energy in small packets in case of light is called as photon.

  • The energy of each quantum is directly proportional to the frequency of the radiation and inversely proportional to the wavelength.

  • The total amount of energy transmitted is an integral multiple of the energy of a quanta.

Drawbacks of Plank's Quantum theory are :-

  • Nature of radiations emitted from a black body.

  • The ejection of electrons when light strikes on the metal surface known as photoelectric effect.

  • The spectral lines emitted by excited gas atoms, known as line spectrum.
