Some of the features of Plank's Quantum theory are :
- The radiated energy which is released or is absorbed by a body which is not continuously but discontinuosly in the form of small packets which is called as quantum.
- Energy in small packets in case of light is called as photon.
- The energy of each quantum is directly proportional to the frequency of the radiation and inversely proportional to the wavelength.
- The total amount of energy transmitted is an integral multiple of the energy of a quanta.
Drawbacks of Plank's Quantum theory are :-
- Nature of radiations emitted from a black body.
- The ejection of electrons when light strikes on the metal surface known as photoelectric effect.
- The spectral lines emitted by excited gas atoms, known as line spectrum.
