Plasma membrane is the other name of cell membrane.
It lies beneath the cell wall in plant cells and is the outer most layer in animal cells.
It acts as a semi-permeable membrane and allows the movement of only specific substances across it.
Plasma membrane shows more membrane permeability towards hydrophobic substances rather than towards hydrophillic substances.
