PLASMOLYSIS

  • Plasmolysis is  the process of contraction of the plant cells .

  • In is caused by the water movement on the surrounding solutions.

  • If the cell is in a \red\starhypertonic solution water comes out from the cell , it is due to ex-osmosis.

  • The first stage of plasmolysis is known as limiting plasmolysis.

  • On further loss of water the protoplasm of the cell withdrwas to a corner and is called incipient plasmoslysis.

  • Then the protoplast separartes from the cell wall and gets a sperical form and this stage is called evident plasmolysis and the solution gets filled between the cell wall and protoplast.

\red\starHypertonic Solution

Hypertonic solutions are solutions whose solution concentration is higher than the protoplasm of the cell.

Some Applications of Plasmolysis

  • Plasmolysis can be used to detect dead cells and living cells.
  • It is used in weed killing with common salt.
  • The osmostic pressure of a cell can be known by this process.

\huge\bf{Answer :}

Plasmolysis is a biological phenomenon in which the protoplasm of a plant cell shrinks because of deprivation of water in the plant cell.

⇒ It is a rarely occuring process.

EXTRA INFORMATION :-

Lysosomes are also known as Suicidal Bags of the cell. They consists of strong enzymes that can digest a cell.

Mitochondria is considered as the power house of a cell .

⇒ There are two types of Endoplasmic Reticulum :-

  • Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum
  • Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum

Golgi Apparatus is referred to as the post office of the cell as it initiates the movements of proteins across the cytoplasm of cell.
