The chemical name of plaster of Paris is calcium sulphate hemihydrate. It's formula is CaSO4.1/2H2O. It is prepared by heating gypsum to a temperature of 100°C. It is used in setting fractured bones in right position. It is also used as fire proofing material. It use in making surfaces.
