Plaster of Paris is calcium sulphate hemihydrate , CaSO4.1/2H2O

It is obtained by heating gypsum(CaSO4.2H2O) at 373k

CaSO4.2H2O->CaSO4.1/2H2O + 1 1/2H20

It is used for making toys , and in the medical field to repair broke bones , it is used in casts
