If the degree of polarization is quite small, an ionic bond is formed, while if the degree of polarization is large, a covalent bond results. The ability of a cation to distort an anion is known as its polarization powerand the tendency of the anion to become polarized by the cation is known as its polarizability.

Polarizing power can be defined as the ability of a cation to attract the electron cloud towards itself.

Answer:

A polarizer or polariser is an optical filter that lets light waves of a specific polarization pass and blocks lightwaves of other polarizations. It can convert a beam of light of undefined or mixed polarization into a beam of well-defined polarization, that is polarized light.
