After the first war of Indian independence in 1857,the licence given to the East Indian company to do trade in India was cancelled. The power of ruling India was transferred from East India company to the queen of England. Then the queen of England implemented a new policy called policy of assertion.According to this policy , Indians were also given a role in creation of constitution and government.
