polling is a method of refining of a metals like Copper and Tin.
In poling the molten metal is stirred with green logs of wood
by this Methane is produced and the logs of wood reduce the metal oxide to metal..

This is a process of purification of copper from copper oxide or sn from SnO2.
The process contains two steps of purification.
In this method the first step is Removal of sulfur or copper from its oxides by simply blowing air.
But it doesn't purify totally so in second step the copper or sulphur is reductioned with help of appropriate reducing agent.
