Polysaccharides :- ( Many sugar units)
▪ They are formed by the condensation of large number of monosaccharides.
▪ They can be easily hydrolysed.
▪ They are amorphous, tasteless and insoluble in water.
▪ General Formula of polysaccharide is (C6H10O5)n. Here, 'n' represents number of monosaccharides links.
▪ They are classified into two types:-
a. Homopolysaccarides or homoglycans.
Example : Starch , cellulose,pectin ,etc
b. Heteropolysaccharides or heteroglycans.
Example : Hemicellulose, mucilage,etc.
