Pressure is a scalar Quantity representing the distribution of force over a surface. Mathematically, it's described as the ratio of Force and surface area.

Here the force considered shall be perpendicular to the surface. So we need to take that component of an inclined force that will be perpendicular to the provided surface.

Factor upon which the pressure depends are as follows :

  • Magnitude of Thrust or Force acting perpendicular to surface.
  • Surface area upon which the force acts.

If we consider Surface area to be constant , Pressure is directly proportional to the force applied.

Similarly, if we consider Force Constant , pressure is inversely proportional to area of surface

The force that is produced when you press

on or against something .Pressure exeterd on surface by an object increases or the surface decrease .As such way pressure depend on surface depends on the amount of gas(in number of molecules).
